CONNERVILLE, Okla. (AP) — A 20-year-old Ada man sitting on a pickup's tailgate in Johnston County has died after falling off and suffering a head injury.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Rodney A. Simpson was trying to retrieve his cap after it blew off when the accident happened about 11:45 a.m. Saturday on a county road three miles east of Connerville.
Troopers say the pickup was traveling too fast for road conditions and that Simpson fell off the tailgate after leaning over to pick up his cap.
He was taken by ambulance to a Tishomingo hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Neither the driver of the pickup nor five other passengers were injured.
