HYDRO — Assistant volunteer fire chief Warren Schmidt was upgraded to good condition today, according to OU Medical Center staff.

Schmidt was one of four firefighters rescued Monday from a fire inside a grain bin at the Hydro Co-op Association. The fire killed Hydro Fire Chief Nolan Schmidt — Warren’s brother — and left another brother, Capt. Paul Schmidt, in critical condition. Doctors released Paul Schmidt from Baptist Medical Center Tuesday.

Weatherford firefighter Kyle Nonast and Hydro firefighter Allen Entz were also released Tuesday from Weatherford Regional Hospital after suffering smoke inhalation.

Funeral services will be held for Nolan Schmidt at 10 a.m. Friday at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, nine miles north of Hydro on State Highway 58.

A Schmidt Family Trust fund has also been established. Donations can be made at the Bank of Hydro, P.O. Box 7, Hydro, Ok. 73048.
