An Oklahoma City man sought forgiveness Monday after he pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.
"I never meant for this to happen,” William Vernon Shadrick said.
Shadrick, 35, told several relatives of victim David Mason he relives what happened Sept. 20, 2007, every day.
He said he prays for the family’s forgiveness so he can forgive himself for killing Mason, 44, after an argument.
Shadrick was sentenced to life in prison. He must serve more than 38 years before parole is possible.
After the hearing, two of Mason’s sisters said they believed Shadrick’s remorse was genuine.
Shadrick’s mother also apologized to Mason’s family.
