PRESTON -- Authorities are hoping a man will come forward to help them learn details about the Saturday wreck that killed his 2-year-old son,Oklahoma Highway Patrol Capt. Chris West said.

Thomas E. Dunn, 41, of Beggs was last seen running away from the Preston Fire Department along the railroad tracks, troopers said. About 6 p.m. Saturday, he was driving a 1993 Chevy Suburban southbound on Webster Road near Jefferson Road, south of Beggs and west of Preston, when he lost control on a curve and struck an embankment, rolling the SUV onto the passenger side, according to a patrol report.

Thomas Ray Dunn, 2, was thrown out and hit by the SUV but not pinned, troopers said. A witness saw the crash and took the Dunns to the fire station, and paramedics took Thomas Ray Dunn to an Okmulgee hospital. Doctors pronounced him dead there.

Officials said they've made contact with the Dunns' family and are hoping the elder Dunn will come forward to provide more details about the wreck.

Neither Dunn was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
