DEPEW – A Bristow teen died after a sport utility vehicle he was driving ran off the road in Creek County Friday night.

Jeffrey D. Gilmore Jr., 17, was traveling at a high rate of speed and ran off the road at the intersection of 251st Street South and 449th West Avenue east of Depew about 11 p.m., the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

Upon investigation, troopers learned that the SUV was stolen from a home near the location of the accident, troopers said.

The SUV rolled several times, striking a propane tank and a fence and ejecting Gilmore. The accident was discovered about 10 a.m. Saturday.

Gilmore died at the scene and was not wearing a seatbelt, troopers said.
