Rising waters in the Caney and Neosho rivers have prompted the National Weather Service to issue flood warnings in parts of four northeastern Oklahoma Counties today and Monday.
Until Monday evening, a flood warning is in effect for the Caney River in Rogers and Tulsa counties near Collinsville. Flood stage is 26 feet, and the river was already half a foot above it by 7 a.m. today, the weather service reported. The river is expected to rise another foot by dawn Monday before falling back below flood stage in the afternoon, and minor flooding should affect agricultural land and rural roads. At 8 a.m. today, the river was at 25.6 feet near Ramona in Washington County, where the warning is in effect until this evening, the weather service reported. The river is expected to rise near flood stage by this afternoon, and minor flooding could also affect agricultural lands and rural roads. A flood warning is in effect for Ottawa County near Commerce in anticipation of rising waters in the Neosho River. The weather service reported the river was more than three feet below flood stage, 15 feet, at 7 a.m. today, but the waters are expected to rise to about two feet above flood stage by Monday afternoon. Minor flooding could affect agricultural areas and Riverview Park before the river is expected to fall below flood stage Tuesday morning.
