CLINTON — A Burns Flat man died Sunday at the scene of a fiery crash on U.S. 183 in Clinton in Custer County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Kent Louis Cofield, 24, was driving northbound on the highway when he tried to turn his tractor-trailer rig onto westbound Interstate 40 about 6:35 p.m., troopers said. The rig was going too fast for the turn and fell on its side, exploded and burst into flames, burning completely with Cofield inside.

It was not known this morning if Cofield was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
