A sampling of several Oklahoma City schools showed little change in attendance for the last day of classes.
Because of snow days, Oklahoma City’s last day was Monday. Unlike some other school districts, Oklahoma City did not use the rule created by House Bill 1864 that allowed officials to trim days off the school calendar by counting hours rather than days.
"The high schools did have finals today, so they had good attendance. That’s possibly why,” district spokeswoman Tierney Cook said Monday.
Cook said one school, Rogers Middle School in Spencer, reported a significant drop, with only 40 percent of students attending classes.
Southeast High School and Classen School of Advanced Studies reported normal attendance, Cook said. Jackson Middle School and Cleveland Elementary School reported normal attendance, as well. Administrators at Southern Hills Elementary School reported a slight decrease in attendance, Cook said.
