BOLEY — Clara Harper of Boley on Saturday watched the dashboard video from the patrol car of a state trooper who scuffled with a paramedic.

In a way, though, she didn’t need to watch it.

"I can remember everything,” she said of the May 24 confrontation that has gained national attention.

Harper was following in a separate vehicle when the ambulance ride of her sister, Stella Jordan, took a turn that no one could have anticipated.

The trooper, identified as Daniel Martin, was captured on cell phone video scuffling with Creek Nation paramedic Maurice White Jr. in Paden.

Martin is on paid leave pending an internal review of the incident by the Department of Public Safety.

That video, which was made available to the media earlier and appeared on Web sites, spawned widespread controversy and calls for release of the trooper’s dash-cam video. That video was released late Friday.

The dash-cam footage lasts about 8½ minutes. In it, Martin barks "Here! Now!” to the driver when he exits the vehicle. As Martin approaches, White climbs from the back of the ambulance.

Martin says he’s talking to the driver and tells White to get inside the ambulance. White responds, "No, no. I’m talking to you. I’m in charge of this unit, sir,” and identifies himself.

Martin tells the driver, Paul Franks, he’s being cited for failure to yield to the patrol car and accuses him of giving a "hand gesture.” Martin curses at Franks, saying he won’t "put up with that” treatment.

"And I’m not going to put up with you talking to my driver that way, sir,” White says.

They continue arguing after it becomes clear that a patient is inside the ambulance. A scuffle ensues.

Later, they scuffle again when Martin informs White he’s being arrested.
