DELAWARE — A pickup that attempted a pass without enough room left the scene of a crash that killed two Kansas residents in Nowata County on Saturday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

The pickup was southbound on U.S. 169 a mile north of Delaware when it tried to pass a southbound car about 8:35 p.m., troopers said. Kyler Blagg, 15, of Caney, Kan., was driving a northbound car and swerved to miss the pickup but lost control, veering into the path of the southbound car and crashing.

Blagg was pinned inside the car for about an hour and 25 minutes and died at a Tulsa hospital, the patrol reported. Passenger Amy Blagg, 44, of Caney was pronounced dead upon arrival at a Kansas hospital. Tara Blagg, 11, of Caney was flown to a Tulsa hospital but her condition was not known.

From the southbound car, driver Alfred Gene Hobbs, 70, of South Coffeyville and passengers Anna Hobbs, 63, of South Coffeyville and Harold Tedford, 79, of Coffeyville, Kan., were taken to a Kansas hospital. Alfred Hobbs, who was pinned for about 50 minutes, was in critical condition Saturday night but a hospital spokeswoman said this morning he had been transferred elsewhere. Anna Hobbs was in fair condition this morning and Tedford had been released.

Everyone in both cars was wearing a seat belt, troopers said.

The patrol has no further description of the pickup, but asks anyone with information about the wreck to call Troop L at (918) 256-3388.
