PADEN — Two Pauls Valley residents died Saturday night after their vehicle rolled five times and struck a utility pole in Okfuskee County.
Lavon Sampson, 24 and Julia Johnson, 26 were both pronounced dead at the scene , the Oklahoma HIghway Patrol reported. About 10:44 p.m., Sampson was driving west on U.S. Highway 62, between Paden and Prague, when the sport utility vehicle he was driving, left the roadway and began a broad slide, causing it to roll five times before striking a utility pole, the patrol reported. Both Sampson and Johnson were thrown from the vehicle when it hit the pole. Investigators said there was an odor of alcohol in the car, and neither was wearing a seat belt.
