Members of the Oklahoma House are seeking government hearings this summer and fall on dozens of issues.

The issues include small-scale "shake-and-bake" methamphetamine labs, equine dentistry and the growing teen practice of "sexting" sexually explicit pictures and messages over their cell phones.

Rep. Joe Dorman of Rush Springs said Monday that interim studies give lawmakers an opportunity to gather information and study an issue while the Legislature is not in session.

A total of 167 interim studies have been requested by lawmakers since the 2009 Legislature adjourned last month. House Speaker Chris Benge of Tulsa has until June 26 to approve or deny the requests.

Last year, lawmakers sought 120 interim studies. Benge denied 27 of them, 23 others were combined with similar study requests and one was withdrawn.
