Showers and thunderstorms likely in Oklahoma

Parts of central Oklahoma could see rain later today as a storm front in Oklahoma continues to move east across the state.

Parts of northern Oklahoma have already seen rain, with 2.17 inches of rain being reported in Claremore and 1.51 inches being reported in Newkirk, according to data from the Oklahoma Mesonet.

As the storm moves east, parts of central Oklahoma could see severe weather tonight, the service said.

The National Weather Service of Norman is predicting a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms in Oklahoma City after 1 p.m., which will drop to a 50 percent chance tonight with a low around 68. Weather is expected to clear up on Sunday, with a high near 88.

Storms are likely in western Oklahoma with a 60 percent chance of rain and a high near 93.

Storms are likely to continue in north Oklahoma, with highs in the high 80s and a chance of precipitation around 70 percent for the rest of the day.

Storm chances are less in south Oklahoma at around 30 percent, with a high near 98.

Eastern Oklahoma will have a 50 percent chance of rain today with a chance of thunderstorms and a high near 89.

Today: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 94. West wind between 9 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60.

Tonight: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a low around 68. North northwest wind between 5 and 8 mph.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 88. Northeast wind between 8 and 10 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 66. East wind between 5 and 10 mph.
