MORRISON — The family members of a woman whose 12-year-old son has been arrested in connection with her shooting death issued a statement Friday through their pastor, Russell Hughes of Hilltop Country Church.
"This is a tragedy that has turned our world upside down,” the family statement said in regard to the Wednesday death of Shannon Renfro, 38.
Sheriff’s deputies found Renfro in her home Wednesday morning with a gunshot wound to her stomach, and she died later that day at a Stillwater hospital. Her son, whose name was not released, was taken Wednesday night to a juvenile detention center in Noble County, officials with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation reported.
"We know that Shannon trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior,” the statement from the family continued.
"And in the midst of this, that brings us great peace. Together, we will walk through these difficult days and draw strength from one another.”
The boy was to make his initial court appearance on Friday. Hughes said he attended the hearing but would not discuss any of the details. Noble County authorities also would not discuss the hearing.
