“If it disappears, this is what it looks like.”

That’s what a Dutch man named Cor Pan captioned a Facebook photo of his Malaysian Airlines flight, presumably making a joke about the infamous Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 that disappeared on March 8.

Cor’s friends joined in on the joke and commented on his post wishing him happy travels.

About six hours and numerous “Happy holidays” later, the tone of the comments on Cor’s photo changed. They began talking about a missing Malaysian Airlines plane and asking if anyone knew his flight number. Some tried to calculate whether he could have been on the missing plane according to what time he posted the photo.

“There are only 2 left, one at 9 am one to 12 hours … I really hope that it is not that of Cor and Neeltje is … but if you’re going to count on it…”

Soon after that, his friends got the news that a Malaysian Airlines flight had been shot down.

“Now on the news.”

“Shot?!”

“My stomach turns here now from to pfff”

“Jesus this may not be true!!!”

“There are people who survive this people…….”

“This is really horrible …”

“No one knows their flight number?”

“Who oh who can find out flight number?”

An hour later, comments flooded in wishing Cor to “rest in peace.”

“: ‘ ( Dear Cor rest in peace”
