#SundayStories series offers an insight into stories behind great posts

The #MyOklahoma hashtag is more than a year old.

We’ve chosen a photo to feature in the newspaper every day and we’ve promoted all the great photos within NewsOK photo galleries and on Twitter, Facebook and the place where it all started – Instagram.

And now we have a spin-off.

The #SundayStories series on the @News_OK Instagram account is one month old today.

News Web Editor Tiffany Gibson has started an Instagram series each Sunday, featuring the story behind the Instagrammer. We publish it on Sunday, so, after a lot of debate, we called it “#SundayStories.’

This was last week’s #SundayStories feature.

What you see here is just the beginning. On the account, we share the story about the woman who is creating this mural along Western Avenue.

“My muse and the model for the work is a sweet girl who lives locally. The cool thing was the number of people who walked up and wanted to tell us how awesome they thought it looked. People really respond to oversize art being created live.”

Here’s how it works.

Tiffany curates the best of the Instagram community for NewsOK. How? She sees every photo with the #MyOklahoma hashtag since she launched the hashtag. She’s been at our Instameets where the Instagram community in Oklahoma gets together to discuss and share in taking photographs at an iconic location in the greater Oklahoma City area.

That’s where she has met a lot of our #MyOklahoma stars.

She listens to their stories and gains a better understanding of the people who shape our city.

They have a story to tell.

And that is what the weekly #SundayStories feature on the NewsOK Instagram account is all about.

It starts with an image with a story told to us by the person who captured the image.

Today, Tiffany features someone different. That quick story can be found by following us on social media — Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.
