Downtown Big Screen is worth seeing in person

It's been more than a year since The Oklahoman reported that it was moving downtown. That was Nov. 18, 2013.

I saw the drawings. I heard about the location that would be renovated for our arrival.

I was looking forward to it as much as everyone else in our company. And trust me; there's been quite a buzz about the move.

I visited the location. I saw the construction begin. I had the opportunity to walk through the building.

It was cool.

I watched video production manager Todd Fraser and other technology experts work to get the Big Screen (#BigScreenOK) that is currently lighting up Robinson and Sheridan

I worked with video director Dave Morris, creative director Scott Horton and lead developer James Duncan as we organized the design, logic, content and administration of the Big Screen.

We saw a preview of the screen on our computers. We saw the administration. We talked about how we'd update it. We got feedback and direction. We updated the plan.

The point is, I thought about that screen a lot in recent months. Even after Todd tested the system with the experts, and we lit the screen up with test data more than a week ago, I saw pictures and a bunch of social media excitement about the screen.

But all of the excitement of moving downtown reached a pinnacle when I finally stood at the corner of Robinson and Sheridan and saw this view:

It's much better than seeing it on my laptop screen.

It was cool.

Tell us what you think should be on the screen — #BigScreenOK.
