Special series 'Saving the Last Dance' available now for all readers
The 'Saving the Last Dance' series made its run in The Oklahoman beginning in late June as an exclusive to subscribers. It ran four consecutive days in the newspaper and on Oklahoman.com and the other digital offerings from The Oklahoman.
Subscribers were able to read the series by Juliana Keeping and share Shannon Primeau's experience through online videos and photo galleries before everyone else.
I wrote about the series three weeks ago:
That's just another benefit to being a subscriber. You can read what will certainly be award-winning story-telling before everyone else. Sure, everyone else will see breaking news and trending updates next week (that stuff is good, too), but only The Oklahoman's subscribers will read this long-form story.
Eventually, we'll release the entire package on NewsOK and allow users to download an e-book and listen to a podcast of Juliana telling the story in audio.
Well, the time has come. A week ago Friday, we released the entire series on our advertising-supported site, NewsOK. And as promised, there are additional elements to the story that I highly recommend.
Web editor Tiffany Gibson worked with Paige Dillard, a video producer in The Oklahoman's studio along Robinson Ave., to interview Juliana and share the back story to the piece. Tiffany edited the reporter's observations and created a podcast that helped guide the audience through Juliana's reporting and how she unwrapped the chapters of the story.
Now is the time to go through the series on NewsOK and highlight the fine work by the aforementioned journalists, as well as photographer Bryan Terry, videographer Tim Money, web designer Richard Hall, editor Phil O'Connor and copy editors Pat Gilliland, Thomas Maupin and Beth Gollob.
