Revealed: Converse’s new Chuck Taylor All Star II
Converse’s iconic Chuck Taylor All Star sneaker got a makeover.
The new Converse Chuck Taylor All Star II features high white foxing or sidewall, rubber toe-cap and statement All Star Patch, along with details to make the shoe more comfortable.
Its look isn’t that much different, but the comfort factor is said to be noticeable at first step.
“The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star II is a sneaker that started with one simple notion: obsession, said Richard Copcutt, vice president/general manager of Converse All Star. “We listened and took it to heart that people love their Chucks and want sneakers that are built to enable them to do more. The Chuck II is the full expression of this consumer obsession, staying true to the DNA of the original.”
The Chuck Taylor All Star debuted in 1917 and has been a favorite among artists, musicians and style icons who sported the sneakers as a badge of creativity and self-expression. Even Michelle Obama has been photographed wearing the classic style.
Comfort features include Nike sock liner for full foot cushioning and arch support; foam padded collar and nonslip gusseted tongue; and a perforated microsuede liner for breathability during extended periods of wear. Converse is a subsidiary of Nike.
The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star II makes its debut Tuesday for a suggested retail price of $70 and $75 for high tops.
