National Lipstick Day is Wednesday
Let’s celebrate lipstick.
Who would have guessed that a small tube of color would get its own day? Yes, National Lipstick Day is July 29. Good things really do come in small packages.
Lipstick has changed over the centuries, but its message is undeniable.
As a display of wealth and power, ancient Egyptians wore lip color regularly. It is believed Cleopatra favored red.
Hollywood glamour queens were well-known for their acting and their perfectly polished pouts. Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford, Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe took lipstick to the next level. Taylor, in fact, was so identified by her red lipstick that she supposedly forbid anyone else from wearing it on her movie sets.
MAC’s Ruby Woo velvety red matte was the best-selling lipstick in America in 2013, according to the NPD Group.
So, swipe on your favorite lipstick and celebrate.
