Sherri Hill named official gown sponsor of the Miss America Competition
The Miss America Organization has announced a long-term partnership with designer Sherri Hill, a name well-known in Oklahoma.
Hill, whose prom, pageant and evening wear business was based in Norman for years until she relocated to Austin, Texas, is the new official gown sponsor of the 2016 Miss America Competition. The competitioin celebrates its 95th anniversary on Sept. 13 in Atlantic City.
Hill’s gowns will be featured on the live telecast and worn by Miss America 2016 throughout the year.
Since the mid-1990s, Hill has been one of the most sought after names in the prom and pageant world. She has become the go-to designer for young actresses and performers, including Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Selena Gomez, Arianna Grande, Bella Thorne and Kylie and Kendall Jenner.
In 2011, Hill debuted at New York Fashion Week with Kendall Jenner walking in the show as well as Carmen Dell'Orefice. The following year, Hill debuted her spring 2013 collection at New York Fashion Week with Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Hailey Baldwin and Cassidy Gifford on the runway. She also teamed up with Sadie Robertson from “Duck Dynasty” to create a collection of prom dresses. And in February, she launched a new line of bridal gowns.
She recently was named one of Google’s Top 10 trending fashion designers. Along with corporate headquarters in Austin, the company also has a design studio and showroom in Atlanta. Her brand is sold in more than 1,000 stores in 30 countries.
