Jumpsuits and rompers for men?
Don’t laugh. “Good Morning America” did a fashion segment on the subject and though response was mixed from those on the street, some guys probably will jump on the look. Just like they did in the 1970s. Is the men’s jumpsuit poised for a comeback?
Men’s jumpsuits have been showing up on the runways the past couple of seasons, but let’s hold off calling it a full-blown trend just yet.
Jonathan Skow, designer of Mr. Turk menswear, told “Good Morning America” the jumpsuit is one of his best sellers. For holiday, he even offers a gold metallic number inspired by Elvis.
Skow isn’t some quirky guy who plays at designing. He’s the husband of designer Trina Turk. The menswear line was launched in 2002.
Skow said the jumpsuit looks great and it’s simple, adding to its appeal.
Joe Zee, editor in chief of Yahoo Style, isn’t a believer.
“I do not think a jumpsuit or romper looks good on a guy. Would you want the man in your life to be wearing this?” Zee asked, holding up a turquoise check romper. “Some things are better off for the ladies.”
But Skow said it’s up to the guys to decide.
“I mean, it’s fashion … it’s fun,” he said. “That’s the whole point of fashion, right?
