Disney star collaborates with Sherri Hill on prom collection
Designer Sherri Hill, whose business was based in Norman before relocating to Austin, Texas, has teamed with Laura Marano, star of television’s “Austin & Ally,” for the prom 2016 collection.
The Laura Marano collection by Sherri Hill is inspired by the young star’s personal style and her prom-going experiences. She attended her junior and senior proms, a friend’s senior prom and a prom on the set of Disney Channel’s “Austin & Ally.”
The upcoming prom line will include Hill’s signature style that has become so appealing to contemporary young women. She and Marano collaborated on looks that are not only fashion forward but wearable.
“Laura was so much fun to work with,” Hill said. “With the adorable selfies she snapped on the day of the photo shoot, she really made the dresses come to life. I am so excited to showcase our well-curated collaboration to both the fashion world and aspiring teen girls who look up to Marano as a role model.”
And though it’s a few months off, Hill and Marano will be part of TLC’s “Say Yes to the Prom.” Hill will donate dresses and Marano will host the show on March 30 in Miami.
Marano is the latest teen to work with Hill, who also collaborated with Sadie Robertson and Bella Thorne.
Hill’s prom and pageant gowns have been sought after since the mid-1990s. She also has become the designer of choice for young actresses and performers, including Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Selena Gomez, Arianna Grande, Bella Thorne and Kylie and Kendall Jenner.
In 2014, she was named one of Google’s Top 10 trending fashion designers. And earlier this year she was named the official gown sponsor for the Miss America Organization.
