Belk seeks fashion designers
Once again, Belk is looking for a few good fashion designers.
The department store chain’s fourth annual Southern Designer Showcase offers designers from the South or who have a deep connection to the South an opportunity to have their clothes and accessories sold at the stores.
Belk is accepting applications from designers of women’s, men’s and children’s apparel, shoes, and women’s accessories. And, yes, Oklahoma is considered in the chain’s footprint as a Southern state.
“We are looking for designers who truly understand Modern. Southern. Style. And can make it come to life in their designs,” said Cynthia Washburn-Nester, Belk's vice-president of trend merchandising and fashion direction. “We are proud that every year our Southern Designer Showcase gives a new group of emerging fashion designers the opportunity to design collections that our Belk customers can embrace.”
Applications will be accepted through March 31 at belk.com/southerndesigner. Designers must be 18 or older and currently live in the South or have a strong connection to the region. Finalists will be selected by April 20 and invited to present their designs May 19 at Belk headquarters in Charlotte, N.C.
Winners will receive a cash prize, and their collection will be sold in Belk stores and online in spring 2017.
Belk has stores in 16 states, including Oklahoma.
