See early day commercial for Festival of the Arts at Civic Center Park

The Festival of the Arts returns to its historic home next week in what is now known as Bicentennial Park (for me it will always be Civic Center Park) between the Civic Center Music Hall and City Hall. It's pretty fun to think that the return home coincides with the festival's 50th anniversary. This commercial, one of dozens hosted by Retro Metro OKC, provides a glimpse of the festival's earliest days, circa the late 1960s.

Background: During April 5-9, 1967, the newly formed Oklahoma City Arts Council held its "1 Annual" Oklahoma City Arts Festival in the Civic st Center Park also known as the Bicentennial Plaza. The annual event remained at that location until 1985 when it moved to west side of the newly opened Myriad Gardens. The ad presented here shows the arts festival when it was located in its first location.
