60 YEARS/FLAMING FESTIVAL
Luncheon: Kimberly Schlegel Whitman, Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae, was the special speaker at the 60th annual Flaming Festival at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. She has published seven books on entertaining and featured the most recent one “Monograms for the Home” in her entertaining talk to Thetas and their guests. She has a daily radio show in Dallas on parties and entertaining and appears on television and has been editor- at -large for Southern Living Magazine since 2011.
Festival: 22 local vendor tables were on display during the event and there were 13 unique and decorated Theta tables, including one by Gov. Mary Fallin and Friends of the Mansion. The Theta tables gave a nod to the decades. Julie Leclercq and Caroline Mildren were co-chairmen.
Tea table: Barb Munneka and Marsha Waldo decked out the tea table with flowers created from vintage plates. Past presidents and 50-year- Thetas poured tea. Homemade cookies baked by the members were also served.
Pantry table: This table was filled with holiday treats for sale. The offerings were wrapped and tied with Theta ribbons and featured rolls, candy, cakes, pies, brownies and toasted pecans. Janie Axton brought her famous apple cake. Some recipes were attached to the baked items.
Entertainment: A special video created by Axton, Celena McCord, Allison Morris, Ann Ryan, Sue Ryan and Elizabeth Prosser was shown and it featured photos of Theta through the years.

Occasion: Sue Magness celebrated her birthday with a Watch Party in the home of Kanela Huff. The invitation stated “ Watch Sue turn 70 while we watch OU play football.”
Décor: Televisions were set up in every room and outside for the football game and there were red and white birthday napkins. Red tulips and white lilies and orchids decorated the tables.
Food: Contributing tasty food items for the dinner were Judy Lehmbeck, Rawsie Boyles, Sue Homsey, Gay Kirby, Connie Givens, Grenda Moss, Huff and Lisa Voegeli.

Bridal tea: Paige Williams, fiancee of Jason Shepherd, was honored at an afternoon Bridal Tea in the home of Marion Paden. Co-hostesses were Gena Timberman, Lori Burson and Mary Walsh.
Bubbly: Guests created their own mimosas from a Bubbly Bar. Also tea cakes, sandwiches, macaroons and Jordan almonds were served.

Reception: “The Northeast meets the Southwest” was the title of the art exhibit at The Howell Gallery and lots of art viewers dropped by for hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. Linda and Ken Howell greeted guests at the front door.
On display: Artwork viewed were from areas of Rockport, Maine; the bridges and steeples of New Hampshire; the Grand Canyon; saguaros of Arizona; Taos Pueblo in New Mexico and the Tetons in Wyoming.
