Event: The Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits held the 2016 Visions Awards at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. This year, the awards honored six visionaries in four categories for their work in nonprofit leadership.
Award winners: Honored were Sharon Gallagher, Tulsa, United Way (Sarkeys Special Recognition Award); Larry Pulliam, Ardmore, Southern Oklahoma Memorial Foundation (Lifetime Achievement Award); Lauren Branch, Oklahoma City, NewView Oklahoma (Pat Potts Visionary Award.) They received $1,000 for the charity of their choice. Desiree Doherty, Tulsa, The Parent Child Center, was awarded the Rodney Bivens Innovation Award and a $10,000 grant courtesy of the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation in honor of 2015 retiring Food Bank CEO Rodney Bivens. Other finalists for this award received $1,000 for their charities and they were Mary Frates, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Arts Institute; and Dan Straughan, Oklahoma City, Homeless Alliance.
