Rustic Cuff fans go after another world record
Never underestimate the will and passion of Rustic Cuff fans.
Rustic Cuff is a popular Tulsa-based accessories retailer, and its fans are known for their love of cuffs. So much so, in fact, that a grassroots Facebook group called Addicted 2 Cuffs has set one world record and is determined to set another this month.
Addicted 2 Cuffs was started by B.J. Weintraub in May 2015, and the Facebook group has grown to 40,000 members.
The group holds the Guinness World Records title for the Most People Playing Bunco simultaneously with 1,599 on Feb. 24, 2016. A2C organized the event in Tulsa with volunteers who helped count and verify so the attempt met Guinness guidelines.
Now the group is switching games and hopes to claim its second title, this one for the Most People Playing Monopoly (single venue) on Jan. 12. The evening will feature the official Hasbro Commemorative Edition Rustic Cuff Monopoly board game with Rustic Cuff themed cuffs, game tokes and play money.
“The record to beat is 605 people playing Monopoly in a single venue and I believe we can do it,” said Weintraub, who lives in Broken Arrow.
The attempt will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel & Convention Center at 6808 S 107th East Ave. in Tulsa. Tickets are $34 for general admission and $94 for VIC or Very Important Cuffer. Everyone plays, but the ticket prices are for two different types of event experiences. Tickets can be purchased online through Jan. 9 at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cuffopoly-tickets-29924684537
Started by Jill Donovan in her guest room in 2011, Rustic Cuff recently opened stores in Edmond and Oklahoma City. The company sells to some 250 stores across the country.
