Celebrating the arts
Oscar party: Kevin Winsell, Charlie Monnot, Kym Koch, Claire and Tom Powers; Karen Kutz and Jodi Nestander were hosts for an Oscar Party at 51st Street Speakeasy.
Guests: 120 people were at the event, including Mickey Thompson, Terry Phelps, Greg White, Billie Thrash; and Jenny and Brett Rottmayer.
Appetizers: The hosts used a play on words to identify the tasty appetizers in honor of some of the nominated movies. This year they served Hacksaw Ribs for “Hacksaw Ridge”; Fruitopia for “Zootopia”; Hell or High Watermelon for “Hell or High Water”; Hidden Figs for “Hidden Figures”; Manchester by the Seafood for “Manchester by the Sea”; Nocturnal Animal Crackers for “Nocturnal Animals”; Florence Bananas Foster Jenkins for “Florence Foster Jenkins”; Suicide Squid for “ Suicide Squad”; Roll One: A Starch Wars Story (rolls) for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” and Jimmy Kibbles ‘n Bits for host Jimmy Kimmel.
Preview party: The Preview party for the OKC Orchestra League Symphony Show House was held at the house, 4808 Rose Rock Drive.
Menu: Appetizers and wine were served the guests. Kyle Shifflett organized the food display and was assisted by Walter Shaw and Jonna Kirschner.
Show house: The 2017 Symphony Show House opens to the public May 6-21. Mary Blankenship Pointer is Show House Chairman.

Cocktails and conversation
Event: Members of the United Way of Central Oklahoma's Women's Leadership Society met at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club for “Cocktails and Conversation.”
Hostesses: Judy Love and Alice Hager were hostesses. They are co-chairmen of WLS, a United Way group of leadership givers who promote the UWCO and partner agencies.
Speaker: Steve Buck, executive director of the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs, was guest speaker.
Tea: The 2017 Oklahoma City Panhellenic Spring Tea was held at All Souls Episcopal Church for high school senior women who are interested in sorority life on a university campus.
Reps: Sorority representatives from the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma City University and University of Central Oklahoma had a question-and-answer session about the recruitment process and how to become involved in the Greek community.
Food/flowers: Orchids decorated the tables and decorated tea cookies were served to the young women and their parents.
Off to France
Reception: Students, parents, teachers and guests met in the home of Barbara and Ralph Thompson for a send-off reception. Seven Alliance Francaise 2017 Eleanor Kirkpatrick Franco-American Fellows were honored as they left March 4 to spend two weeks researching projects in Picardy, France.
Hosts: The Villers-Cotterets School is the host school in France.
