Actress Reese Witherspoon is stepping into a special role for beauty brand Elizabeth Arden.

She has been named storyteller-n-chief to help shape the brand’s narrative through advertising campaigns, marketing campaigns and a digital presence.

It’s a good fit when you know a little background. Elizabeth Arden founded her own company in 1910 in New York and revolutionized the beauty industry at the turn of the 20th century. Reese, too, is an entrepreneur as founder of Hello Sunshine, her content production company, and Draper James, her lifestyle and fashion brand.

Witherspoon will bring Elizabeth Arden’s spirit to the world by channeling its trailblazing founder through the eyes of Liz Arden, a present day fictional character who provides a first-person look into the brand today.

“One of the first things that drew me to the brand was its rich heritage and history of supporting women,” Witherspoon said. “As one of the first female entrepreneurs, Elizabeth Arden paved the way for women like me. It's an honor to carry on her legacy and be part of such an iconic company that is committed to serving women.”

She said she’s excited to work as a creative partner to produce content that celebrates the spirit of the brand and highlights female-centric stories that illustrate women's true life experiences.

The first beauty visual will debut both in print and digital in May.
