Occasion: The spring meeting of the biennial invitation-only Winter Charity Ball committee was held in the Regency Room of the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. Joan Frates is chairman and Karen Browne is co-chairman.
New committee members: There are three new committee members: Kristine Partridge Browne, Whitney Browne Hooten and Sally Starling.

Book it: The 2018 Winter Ball is January 27 at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. It benefits the Allied Arts Foundation and is sponsored by The Winter Charity Ball Inc.
Preserving a legacy: Each formal ball since the first one in 1957 has had a different theme chosen by the chairman and it is kept secret until the ball. The invitation, hand-delivered, gives a hint of the theme. Past themes have been a Michigan Woods Winter Wonderland, April in Paris, the Imperial Gardens, Williamsburg, Peacock feathers, Magnolias in Bloom and Downton Abbey. Dannie Bea Hightower, who hosted the first meeting of the founding group, continues as an honorary member of the committee. Her daughter-in-law, Millie Hightower, is a committee member and past chairman. Other founding member second and third generation daughters and daughters-in-law are Julia Hall, Sally Lenz, Karen Browne, Kristine Partridge and Whitney Browne. There were 14 founding members who organized the first Winter Ball.
OCU AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE RECEPTION
Honoree reception: Jeaneen Naifeh, and Jenee and Darren Lister were hosts for the 2017 Awards of Excellence Reception for The Societies of Oklahoma City University. The party was in Naifeh's beautiful home. The awards luncheon for the five honorees is set for April 20 at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. Judy Love and Jenee Lister are co-chairmen.

Honorees: The honorees were introduced at the reception and were presented a Society pin. They are Ann-Clore Duncan, Dulaney-Browne Library Society Award; Cathy Busey, Kirkpatrick-Petree Music and Performing Arts Society Award; Karen Delaney, Norick-Hulsey Gallery Society Award; Glenna Tanenbaum, OCU Distinguished Philanthropist Award; and Cathy Leichter, OCU Societies Servant Leadership Award.
The food and flowers: Tenderloin of beef was on the menu as well as various cheeses, dips, fruit and vegetables. Lovely bouquets of roses, hydrangeas and tulips were on the table and throughout the home. Lots of blooming tulips in the front yard greeted guests as they arrived.
Party: Elizabeth Samis was honored at a wedding shower at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. Hostesses were her aunts, Jane Christiansen, Jennifer Everson, Shirley Everest, Susan Hoffman, Linda James, Karen Samis and Ann Tubbs. Samis and James Hanks will be married this month in Austin, Texas.
Soup's on: The hostesses gave the bride-to-be a gift of the soup tureen in her china pattern.
Flowers: Blue and white vases held bouquets of white flowers for the buffet table.
HONORING ASHLEIGH AND ANDREW
Cocktail party: A cocktail party honored Ashleigh Holloway and Andrew Richard recently. It was in the Vintage Room of the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. The engaged couple will be married in Destin, Florida.
Hosts: Hosts included Leigh Ann and Paul Albers, Barbara and Bud Beeler, Diana and Jeff Beeler, Cindy and Mike Biddinger, Donna and Bill Bozalis, Helen and Pat Dailey, Kathy and John Griffin, Marty and Robert Margo, Barbara Quillian and Jimmy Lee, Pat and Fred Schonwald, Alison Taylor, and Jane and Jim White.
Food: Menu items included dips and chips, tacos, and prime rib sandwiches.
Fragrant fare: Roses and hydrangeas were on the tables.
Hosts' gift: A knife set was given to the couple from the hosts.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEGHAN AND AMBER
Party: Amber Brock and Meghan Spears celebrated their birthdays with a costume birthday celebration at Photo Art Studio.
One generous idea: Guests were asked to “come as the Disney character of your choice” and to bring donations for The Children's Hospital Foundation in lieu of gifts.
Food: La Baguette catered food for the party.

ORCHESTRA LEAGUE LUNCHEON
Lunch: The Oklahoma City Orchestra League had lunch and a meeting at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. Susie Booth catered the event.
Perfect entertainment: Music was provided by the group's Music Competition Buttram quartet winners, Ian Kennedy, Aaron Park, Laura Deng and Mathew Baier.
