Parties, Etc.: May 7, 2017: Helen Ford Wallace
Event: A dinner at the Petroleum Club honored Nancy Wilson Payne Ellis. She received the John and Joy Reed Belt Leadership in Arts and Education Award from the Harding Fine Arts Academy. Sally Bentley and Alison Taylor were co-chairmen of the award dinner.
We've got talent: Students from Oklahoma City University provided entertainment. Students from Harding also performed, including the cheer squad, guitarists, dancers and members of the drama department.
On the program: James Pickel was the master of ceremonies and Dr. Paul J. Kirbas gave the invocation. Board president Susan Gabbard welcomed the attendees. Principal Barry Schmelzenbach talked about the school. Michael Whittington introduced the honoree and Joy Reed Belt presented the award. In her acceptance talk, Nancy discussed the importance of education.
Seen: Guests included Chris Keesee, Martha Williams, Terri Cooper, Laurie and Charles Givens, Joy and Jerry Richardson, Melinda and Randy Compton, Cheryl and Peter Borelli, Jane and John Kenney, Renate and Chuck Wiggin, Nancy and Bob Anthony, Vicki Miles-LaGrange, Willa Johnson, Leslie and Cliff Hudson, Sherry and Jim Rowan.
Exceptional community volunteers
Special ceremony: Jan L. Peery, Chief Executive Officer for the YWCA Oklahoma City, and John M. “Chip” Fudge, Chairman of Claims Management Resources Inc., were two recipients of the Lee Allan Smith Oklahoma Legacy Award. Peery was recognized as the 2016 recipient and Fudge received the 2017 award at a special ceremony at the Gaylord-Pickens Museum, home of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. Smith presented both awards in the presence of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Board members, family and friends.
The award: The individual who is recognized usually exemplifies the same spirit and characteristics that have shaped the creative and amazing life of Lee Allan Smith. Past winners include Debby Hampton, Kari Watkins, Tricia Everest, Paul Massad, the late Bill Thrash and Bob Burke.

Occasion: Stacey and Chris Maxon were hosts in their Norman home for a farewell party honoring Joy and Gary Tucker who are moving to Hudson, New York, at the end of the month.
Menu: Barbecued shrimp, grilled steaks and Renee Mungle's wilted lettuce salad were served to guests.
Wedding shower: Tiffany Poole was honored at a wedding shower in the home of her parents, Mi-Ling Poole and Dr. Edward Poole. Friends and co-workers attended the event.
Food/flowers: Mini sandwiches, chicken salad, pasta salad and an assortment of meat and cheeses were among the food arranged by Da Nell Roy. Blue hydrangeas, roses and peonies made up the floral centerpiece in the living room.
Special touch: Tiffany's mother decorated the home with a historical theme that included a display of wedding dresses from three generations. Tiffany and Ryan Mark Eitzmann were married April 22.
Wear polka dots
Party: Brenda and Phillip Graham were hosts for a “Polka Dot Party” for their friends and clients. The event in their home featured the 50 guests who were encouraged to wear something “polka dot.” Prizes were given for best polka dot outfits and for client appreciation.
Decor: A whimsical path of polka dots led to the front steps, and multicolored polka dots were on the porch columns. Indoors, there were polka dots, colorful lighting and balloons everywhere.
Music/entertainment: Music was by “Harumph” (Kate Dinsmore, David Leach, Kiel Dehnert and Kyle Reid). Hector Lopez drew caricatures of the guests.
Come for wine and cheese
Party: Jeanne Blair and SoRelle Fitzgerald were hosts for a wine and cheese party in the Blair home. Guests toured the Blairs' lovely garden in the Lakehurst neighborhood.
Luncheon: Judy Love and Alice Hager were hostesses for the United Way of Central Oklahoma Women's Leadership Society annual luncheon for members and guests. The event was at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. Love and Hager are co-chairmen of WLS.
Speaker: Charlotte Lankard, marriage and family therapist and columnist for The Oklahoman, was guest speaker and she talked about how “each of us matter.”
WLS: This group of United Way leadership givers work to strengthen the community by investing and promoting the United Way of Central Oklahoma, its partner agencies and community initiatives.
10th annual Cleats & Cocktails
Event: The Wes Welker Foundation members were hosts for the annual Cleats & Cocktails Party at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. Lance McDaniel was master of ceremonies. Alex Hodges and Libby Howard were co-chairmen.
Recipient: The event raises money for the Foundation's grant program, which has distributed $1.2 million to athletic programs for Oklahoma City public schools and nonprofits.
