The band is back, the lights are on and the students are rowdy again.

High school football season is back, and The Oklahoman’s high school football coverage has everything you need on Thursday nights, Friday nights and Saturday mornings.

It starts with our Varsity Stats page on NewsOK.com, continues with our live coverage on NewsOK.com and Oklahoman.com and ends with a full selection of stories and scores in the printed version of The Oklahoman each morning.

Varsity Stats:

At NewsOK.com, we created a Varsity Stats website and mobile application in 2013. Each year, we make small improvements to the functionality of the pages and the app.

This year is no different.

We link to the Varsity Stats page every game night on from NewsOK.com. Varsity Stats has every game from every week. It’s all there. And it has all the rosters and stats from every team and every player – but we rely on the school’s coaches and statisticians for that information.

Varsity Stats is a great place so visit as the final scores come pouring in on Friday nights – or Saturday morning if you are early to bed. Come back later in the season to see the conference standings from all the districts throughout the state.

You can download the app from the iTunes store on your iOS device – or you can simply visit NewsOK.com/VarsityStats on any computer or mobile device.

Live coverage:

On Friday nights in the fall, you can find The Oklahoman’s high school football reporters at the biggest games – but you can also find their updates on NewsOK.com and Oklahoman.com (or the mobile apps).

We have live updates from our reporters, plus from other reputable sources in our state. If you are at a football game on Friday night, you only know what is happening at that stadium. With the live coverage article, you can feel like you are at dozens of other locations, getting real-time updates from your phone.

The Oklahoman on Saturday:

The miracle each week is that we’ll have stories in the newspaper the next day for you to enjoy with your morning-after reading in The Oklahoman. In a past life, I’ve written those stories on tight deadlines; It’s no easy task.

But the staff of reporters and editors is committed to making sure we have full coverage in the newspaper the day after the games to complete the circle of information regarding high school football.

You can also find these stories updated -- even after deadline -- on Oklahoman.com or The Oklahoman mobile applications. Access to these premium digital products is free with your subscription to The Oklahoman.
