Sooner Stilettos---Parties Extra!
Sherri Coale talks from the podium.
This was one of those slam dunk luncheons. The food was lovely (A Cobb salad with fresh vegetables and chicken by Kamala Gamble and Kam’s Kookery); OU red lilies and white hydrangeas bouquets on the table, and a major cheerleader at the microphone. Coach Sherri Coale talked about her University of Oklahoma basketball team with such enthusiasm that everyone in the room felt like they should be at every OU game.
The Sooner Stilettos, 160 strong, offer mentoring opportunities for the basketball women and according to Coale,”have a huge impact on their futures.” “The club members attend games and are role models for our organization,“ Coale said. “Mentors share themselves.” Named Stilettos because organizers wanted business women to be involved in the OU Women’s Basketball program, the business women usually wear stiletto high heels shoes. Coale also wears fancy footwear during the games and everywhere she goes and she did not disappoint at the luncheon. Her black sandals sported a four-inch heel. With the dessert choices of lemon parfait (red and white with whipped cream and strawberries) and chocolate mousse was a high-heel -shaped cookie with red icing.
Stiletto President Misti Connelly noted that the events during the year begin with the September 25th “Hey Day” Event. In October members will attend practice and a dinner. There are also socials, a community service project, “Pack the Place Pink” cancer fund event and other celebrations. There are several categories for membership in the Sooner Stilettos.
