Othello's Italian Restaurant

Pasqual Benso opened the first location of Othello's at 434 Buchanan Ave. in Norman in 1977. Benso was good friends with Barry Switzer, who frequently dined at the restaurant during his tenure as OU football coach.

The booth Switzer always sat in, now with a plaque on the wall next to it, has been dubbed the Table of Truth. In 2000 a second location opened at 1 S Broadway in Edmond.

The Norman location was struck by lightning on April 29, and is closed while repairing heavy fire damage. The projected reopening is November 2017. When they were open, the location often held events such as trivia nights, open mic comedy and live music.

The Edmond location hosts occasional date nights and a monthly street festival called Heard on Hurd from October to March. More information about events can be found on the restaurant’s website.

The menu offers all the Italian food favorites such as stuffed pasta, spaghetti and fettuccini, but includes customer creations such as Brenda's Bruschetta, Nancy's Penne Tomato Alfredo and Angel's Balsamic Chicken & Spinach.

The Edmond location is open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
