Where Oklahoma ranks with Cyber Crime

For those who are allergic to masses of humanity hell-bent on nabbing the last Nintendo Switch from the shelves of Best Buy, and can't stand the hype of Black Friday, Cyber Monday offers a nice change of pace.

And there's good news. If you live in Oklahoma, your chances of having your identity or bank account information stolen while shopping online is relatively low, according to a study from privatetunnel.com.

Oklahoma ranks No. 26 when it comes to cyber crime. Males over the age of 60 are the most likely to be victims.

We fare better than our neighbors. Texas and New Mexico are in the top 10 and Arkansas is in the top 20.

Oklahomans lost more than $15 million to internet crime in 2016, an average of about $6,000 per victim, according to the study.

Private Tunnel is operated by Open VPN, a company that helps small businesses maintain internet security. The study included analysis of FBI crime reports in 2015 and 2016.
