It's national love your pet day

There's a silly day to celebrate virtually everything, including our pets. Brace yourself, Feb. 20 is National Love Your Pet Day., 

It's a day to spend a little extra time with your dog, cat, rabbit or bird. Or whatever other pet you have. It's been on the books since 2000, or thereabouts. 

Oklahoma has a high percentage of pet ownership, according to the most recent data available Oklahoma ranks No. 10 nationally in dog ownership with a whopping 43 percent of households with at least one dog, according to the American Veterinary Medical Foundation. Neighbor Arkansas is No. 1 with 47 percent. 

Oklahoma also ranks slightly about the national average in cat ownership with 32 percent of homes owning at least one cat. The national average is 30 percent.
