NEW PRESIDENT

Party: The 2018 President's Ball was held at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club and honored new president David McCubbin and his wife Becky.

Other officers: Introduced were club officers Ramsey Drake, vice-president; Jim Hazelwood, treasurer; and Donna Blakley, secretary. On the board of directors are Sally Bentley, Richard L. Clements, Ramsey Drake, Cooper Johnson and Andy Lasser. Jim Robertson is ex-officio. Committee chairmen are Donna Blakley, recreation; Jim Hazelwood, finance; Mark McCubbin, membership; Mike Seikel, tournament and golf; Nabil Srouji, house; and Bobby Wegener, Greens.

Staff members: Olivier Boudin, CCM, CCE, is chief executive officer and Linda Dowling is membership director. Others are Jennifer Warren, controller; Pam Graham, human resource director; Tim Fleming, head golf professional; Nathan Neumann, golf course superintendent; Phil Wheeler, CCM, clubhouse manager; Tracy Johnson, special events director; Gary Trost, master professional, athletic director; Angie Koumaris, elite professional, head tennis pro; Mark Brown, CEC CCA, AAC, executive chef; Clay Guinn, building superintendent; and Wendall Boucher, head of security.

The tables: There were navy velvet tablecloths with ivory silk napkins sitting on gold-rimmed mother of pearl chargers. The tables were decorated with white floral arrangements and candlelight filled the rooms from thousands of votive candles. The head table featured Becky McCubbin's favorite gardenia blossoms.

The food: Always delicious at the country club, the menu consisted of a three-course dinner, which included smoked Kobe beef striploin with morel mushrooms, heirloom petite vegetables, and dessert of warm chocolate pudding cake, salted caramel chip ice cream, raspberry sauce and pecan lace cookies. One Bite desserts and coffee were served after dinner.

The program: Also introduced was the employee of the year, Maurico Flores, and monthly employee winners.

Of note: A Champagne wall greeted guests as they arrived. Glasses of Champagne were offered through a special window.

JOURNALISM HALL OF FAME

Luncheon: The Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame's 48th annual ceremony was held at the University of Central Oklahoma Nigh University Center. There were nine 2018 inductees and a lifetime member. Joe Hight is director of the OJHF.

2018 Hall of Fame members: Inducted were Jon Denton, Mary Hargrove, Barbara Hoberok, Doug Hoke, Chris Lee, Ray Lokey, Kim Poindexter, George Tomek and Berry Tramel. Dr. Joe Foote received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Program: Mark Thomas introduced past honorees and Don Betz gave the welcome.

New this year: Special member pins were given to all hall of fame affiliates. Also, videos of each new member were shown.

Next year: The 49th induction ceremony is set for April 25, 2019.

SPECIAL CONCERT

In concert: Jimmy Webb, award-winning singer, composer and songwriter, performed with proceeds benefiting the Allied Arts. His performance, which featured “The Glen Campbell Years,” was at the Visual and Performing Arts Center at Oklahoma City Community College. It was a tribute to his longtime friend and collaborator Glen Campbell.

PATRON PARTY

Evening event: Members of the Oklahoma City Orchestra League were hosts for an evening party at the 45th Symphony Show House for patrons, neighbors and media members. After a house tour, a buffet by Kam's Kookery was served. It included asparagus in puff pastry, assorted cheeses, bite-sized chicken, pork and beef tenderloin, grilled vegetables, and assorted desserts.

PLANNING AHEAD

Event: The advisory committee for the Alliance of Women for Alzheimer's Research and Education (AWARE) met in the home of Elaine and Harrison Levy to discuss plans for their Nov. 8 luncheon. Chairmen are Elaine Levy and Jane Thompson.

Committee: On the luncheon committee are Diana Beeler, Gale Bollinger, Alice Dahlgren, Christy Holland and Lou Morris.

Information: The luncheon will be at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club and it benefits the Alzheimer's Association. To be a table host, contact the Alzheimer's Association.

GUEST DAY LUNCHEON

Luncheon: The Redbud Women's Club had the annual guest day luncheon at Quail Creek Golf & Country Club. Tom Nix provided entertainment.

On the program: Heather Zacaris, principal at Adams Elementary School, and Jennifer Francis, director of Women's First Step, a party of OKC Metro Alliance, received donations from club members. RWC promotes civic, social, and cultural life, including recognition of charitable organizations.

DAR STATE MEET

Luncheon: The Oklahoma Society of the National Daughters of the American Revolution were at the 109th state conference at the Embassy Suites in Norman.

Special guests: Guests were Cindi Carter, Iowa State Regent; Zora Olsson, Louisiana State Regent; and Cynthia McNamara, Mississippi State Regent.

Speaker: Dennis Peterson, manager of Spiro Mounds Archaeological Center, was the speaker and music was by Susan Howard, who played Indian flutes to add to the theme of the luncheon, which was Indian-inspired, with Indian table decorations.
