HAUL OUT TEACUPS

Luncheon: The early American Glass Club members set 27 tables with their priceless antique glasses, china, silver and flower vases filled with flowers at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. The beautiful tables featured some items from the 1920s and earlier.

From my vantage point: I was seated at Carey Sue Vega's table. She used a “Greatest Showman” theme using new and old dishes. A MacKenzie Childs vase held a huge bouquet of red roses and tulips. Cardboard circus performers and circus animal place cards, along with boxes of cracker jacks and animal crackers, and bowls of peanuts were set around. Red vintage etched tumblers, Spode Royal Staffordshire brown plates and antique sterling silver (Francis 1st), including dessert forks, and individual crystal salt and pepper shakers were used.

Two other tables: Franci Hart and Samonia Byford set their table using small trains and a village and Baltimore and Ohio Passenger train china from the 1920-1950 time period. Their guests received white B&O mugs with candy. Melody Bereman used Limoges China, Waterford Crystal, Francis 1st sterling silver and the centerpiece was a ceramic planter of rabbits filled with green plants. She also used her assorted collection of colorful rabbits on the table.

Speaker: Meredith Meuwly, Director of Appraisal Services, Heritage Auctions, Dallas, was guest speaker. She also participates as an appraiser for Antiques Roadshow on PBS specializing in glass, silver and decorative arts. She talked about her experiences, particularly with Tiffany lamps, and showed slides of her favorites.
