THE ART OF BRUNCH

Party: The Art of Brunch at Campbell Art Park, 11th and Broadway, featured outstanding outdoor dining under the trees and all things art, including table decorations of ceramic art vases and sculpture intertwined with garlands of colorful gerber daisies and greenery. About 400 people attended the 10 a.m. event.

Party favors: Parasols in pink, turquoise, white and yellow, were in demand as guests opened them to provide some shade during the midmorning hours. They were also given as party favors. They added to the ambience, along with parasols and lanterns in the trees.

Committee members: Lori Burson was chairman and Elizabeth Farabee was co-chairman. On the committee were Aimee Ahpeatone, Vionette Dunn, Dana Garner, Brooke Haneborg, Aimee Harlow, Lauren Johnson, Rich Johnson, Allison Martinat, Becky McCubbin, Nick O'Hara, Tomra Russell, Brad Simons, Carissa Stevens, and Sara Sweet.

Brunch menu: The brunch cuisine was fabulous! From Stella's came mini lemon blueberry pancakes, gazpacho and mini spinach, mushroom and Gruyere quiche. From Packard's: breakfast club sandwiches, mini bagels and lox with smoked salmon and strawberry shortcake scones.

From Hatch's: chocolate crepe with coffee and Nutella mousse and mini croque monsieur. From Pritchard's: peaches and cream with olive oil cake and a peach and grapefruit granita and pork belly and grits. Drinks included mimosas and poptails by Waters Edge Winery, beer by Prairie Artisan Ales, wine by Artisan Fine Wine Spirits and a coffee truck by Coffee Slingers Roasters.

Other activities: Listed as “everything else” in the program, Big G played live music. Brooke Rowlands and Kalee Jones painted parasols and LeAnne Fitzpatrick drew fashion sketches. Cos Bar staffers did makeup and there were tours of the Art Park.

EMMA AND BRYAN

Wedding: Emma Sherman and Bryan Sayler were married June 16 in the bride's backyard. Rose petals covered the grass aisle where the bride and her dad and the bridesmaids walked. Since it was a sunny evening, guests were given the program, in the shape of a fan, and very cold bottled water with the couple's names. Dinner and dancing followed the ceremony at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. The couple will live in New York.

BEST OF THE WEST BRUNCH

Brunch: Amid the art at JRB Art at the Elms by Greg Gummersall, Jenny Gummersall, Pamela Husky, Jack Fowler, Skip Hill, Robert Peterson, Jim Keffer and George Oswalt, guests enjoyed a “Best of West” brunch. There were giant cinnamon rolls, cold salads, fruit skewers and watermelon bowls, pound cakes and cheese and vegetable trays. The food was served in special ceramic bowls and platters created by Gallery artists.

Flowers: Huge arrangements of sunflowers were on the tables.

Guests: Among the people attending the party were Laura Warriner, Carol Beesley, Regina Murphy, Michelle Metcalfe, Meg Salyer, Nancy and Bob Anthony, Kitty Champlain, Elizabeth Anthony, Mary Jo Watson, Edgar Heap-of-Birds, Kathy Rodgers, Alison Taylor, Betsy and Nick Berry, Ken Barker, Anne and Barry Gray, Amanda Bleakley, David Glover, Adam Lanman, and Barbara and Larry Smith.

STILL 'AIMING HIGH'

Occasion: The Annie Oakley Society luncheon and awards program was held at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum and was a huge success. It honored three people who strive for excellence (they “aim high” like the original Annie Oakley) and who play significant roles in the community. This year's winners were Mo Anderson, co-owner and vice chairman of Keller Williams Realty, Annie Oakley Society Award; Gov. Bill Anoatubby, governor of the Chickasaw Nation, Frank Butler Award; and Darci Lynne Farmer, 2017 winner of "America's Got Talent," Little Sure Shot Award. Darci Lynne received her award in an earlier presentation as she was at camp when the luncheon was held.

Program: NCWHM President Natalie Shirley gave the welcome and Cathy Keating, Lynn Friess and Judy Hatfield gave closing remarks. Keating and Friess are AOS national co-chairmen, and Hatfield is AOS Oklahoma chairman. Presenting the awards were Judy Love, Keating and Friess. Kyle Dillingham and Horseshoe Road played during lunch and also gave everyone a CD of their music in Anderson's honor.

Food/flowers: The Museum's Sam Noble Special Events Center was decorated with elegant, stylized flower gardens by New Leaf Flowers on the tables and as a white garden backdrop for the stage. Lunch was chicken salad, pesto tortellini pasta salad, fruit salad and vanilla cake topped with fresh flowers.

Committee: On the committee this year were Ann Ackerman, Mary Ellen Alexander, Terri Cooper, Freda Deskin, Tricia Everest, Billie McKnight and Avis Scaramucci. Little Sure Shot chairman is Whitney Tatum and working with her were Laura Griffith Aufleger, Susan Seibold Borgan, Mary Bruce, Ashley Engle, Ashley Fitzpatrick, Ashley Leming, Brittney Orr and Betty Thompson.

Second year: The Little Sure Shot Marketplace was open for the second year and featured local shopping vendors with boutique clothes, handmade items and jewelry.

Proceeds: Proceeds benefit education programming for children and families at the museum. The AOS continues to raise funds for the outdoor educational experience “Liichokoshkoma” which will be built at the NCWHM.

THANK YOU LUNCHEON

Event: Jose Freede was hostess for the Show House committee Thank You Luncheon in the Regency Room of the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. Show House chairman Judy Austin thanked committee members and gave them each an engraved picture frame. She also noted that there are three houses in contention for next year's Show House.

Food/flowers: A large bouquet of pastel-colored peonies, anemones and tulips decorated each table. Lunch was chicken crepes and English peas with salad and dessert.

Guests: Among the guests were Linda Patton, Carol McCoy, Deanna Pendleton, Grace Medina, Jane Krizer, Carole Doerner, Dixie Jensen, Glenna Tanenbaum, Jo Meacham, Joan Bryant, Julia Hunt, Lois Salmeron, Lisa Reed and Polly Worthington.

Fast facts: It was announced that 5,000 people toured the house and that $80,000 in proceeds will benefit the Oklahoma City Orchestra League Music Education programs and the OKC Philharmonic.

BREAKFAST AT BELLINIS

Breakfast: Redbud Classic Board President Jeff Auchenbach and Redbud Executive Director Patty Anthony presented $17,000 in Redbud Classic race proceeds to Whiz Kids Oklahoma at a recent breakfast at Bellinis. The Redbud board of directors, along with Bellinis, were hosts and sponsors. Love's Travel Stops and Country Stores were honored as the winner of the Corporate Team Challenge award, which goes to the sponsor with the largest team.

Program: At the event, Auchenbach gave a summary of the April 7-8 race weekend. He talked about the fourth annual Redbud Bash, which included a presentation of race awards, music and children's activities.

A word from the director: “Since 1983, Redbud has been fortunate to raise more than $560,000 for local nonprofits while helping keep the Oklahoma community healthy,” Anthony said. “This race is a big part of a lot of peoples' lives and part of the fabric of our community. Seeing the proceeds go to a local charity, like Whiz Kids and others, is what has made Redbud distinctly unique for 36 years and counting."
