Basketball great Shaquille O’Neal is taking his fashion game to J.C. Penney.

O’Neal’s new line of big & tall tailored clothing will land in 350 stores and online Sept. 12. The new brand, Shaquille O’Neal XLG, comes six months after O’Neal was named the company’s exclusive Big & Tall ambassador.

Initially, the collection will offer m60 styles of suit separates, dress shirts, belts and ties in sizes up to 5XL in stores and 6XL online in tops and up to size 64 in suit separates. Belts will be offered in sizes up to 4XL and ties will be extra-long.

Contemporary designs feature a classic fit suitable for work or an evening out. Suit separates are offered in solids as well as a blue plaid. Sport coats are available in check and windowpane patterns, as well as a black floral. The suit separates will come in solids as well as a blue plaid. Guys who enjoy color can pick from dress shirts in ultra-blue, jet black and burnished lilac, along with more traditional colors. The more contemporary patterns will be available exclusively online.

“Big guy fashion is boring and bland,” O’Neal said in a story in WWD. “I want to do whatever it takes for people to look and feel good.” That means creating “sexy jackets and blazers” that will enhance a guy’s physique, no matter his size.

“Big guys are forgotten,” he said. “Look at all the models out there. As a big guy, I don’t just want to wear a plain black suit, so I created a line that is sexy and fashionable.”

Prices will be $199.99 for suits, $114.99 for sport coats and $32.50 for dress shirts.

At Penney’s, Shaquille O’Neal XLG will join Collection by Michael Strahan, a former NFL football player turned “Good Morning America” anchor. Strahan’s collection kicked off as strictly a tailored line with extended sizes but has expanded into athleisure, luggage and other categories. If O’Neal’s line is successful, expansion into other areas likely will be considered.
