HONORING PRESIDENT GALLOGLY
Luncheon: Before his inauguration ceremony as the 14th president of the University of Oklahoma, Jim Gallogly was honored at a small luncheon at the Griffin Family Performing Center. Members of the OU Board of Regents were hosts. The inauguration was in conjunction with New Sooner Convocation.
At lunch: Guests included his wife Janet Gallogly; their daughters Kelly Gray, Kasey DeLuke and Kim Gallogly; son-in-law Kyle Gray; grandchildren Ella, Vivian, Tony and Benny; other members of the Gallogly family, OU Regents Leslie Rainbolt-Forbes, Phil Albert and Natalie Shirley, OSRHE Chancellor Glen Johnson, State Regent Jeff Hickman, Gene Rainbolt, Jane and John Kenney, Barbara and Rick Braught; Chancellor Venkat Reddy, of the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs; former OU regents Rick Dunning, Dan Little, Tom McCurdy and Max Weitzenhoffer; Sen. John Sparks, and members of the president's executive team.
Table manners: Red and white bouquets of flowers decorated the tables and the Rev. James A. Goins, pastor of St. Thomas More University Parish in Norman, gave the invocation.
COOKIES & COCKTAILS
How sweet it is: At the Cookies & Cocktails party, 400 guests were at the Sanctuary Asia area at the Oklahoma City Zoo. The event benefited the Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma's Girl Awards program and the Gold Award program.
The food: 14 restaurants shared their sweet and savory specialty snacks and some cocktails using Girl Scout cookies. The dishes were judged by Dave Cathey, Mike Crandall, Karl Torp and Greg Elwell. Molly Fleming was emcee and shared judging honors. Hacienda Tacos went home with the Judges' Choice Award for their Samoa-crusted spicy pork taquito with cilantro-lime crema. People's Choice winners were The Drake with lemon pop-ups in the sweet category and Vast with seared tuna in the savory category.

Occasion: 300 alumnae of the University of Central Oklahoma chapter of Sigma Kappa sorority met in the Nigh University Center to celebrate 60 years of the group's campus presence. Initiation years of the women started in 1959, when the university's chapter of Pi Kappa Sigma was absorbed into Sigma Kappa, to today.
On the program: Stacey McNeiland was emcee of the program, which featured a slideshow of the chapter's history, a video, songs, stories and prayer. Tours of the house followed. A campaign was announced for renovation of the existing sorority house at 920 N Chowning Ave., Edmond. Lynn Gravitt Means and Christa Abbott are co-chairmen of the campaign.
At the event: Sue Craig and Eva Bucke Mears attended the reunion. Both are members of the 1959 group. Also at the event was Kathleen Henry, a 1969 initiate who was named a Distinguished Alumni Award recipient by UCO in 1978.
BANK ON IT
Occasion: Rainbow Fleet Child Care Resource and Referral executives and board members received a check from the proceeds of The Maine Event recently. Representatives of the Onward Oklahoma Foundation board were on hand for the presentation. The OOF was founded by Mark Mann and Marc Brockhaus. They raise funds and resources for Oklahoma-based nonprofits serving children and education.
Rainbow Fleet: Rainbow Fleet will use the donation for child development programs and services to families and child care professionals.
