Bodies found in Johnston County creek identified

TISHOMINGO -- The bodies of two missing people found in a Johnston County creek have been identified Wednesday, police reported.

The bodies of Van Denny Hicks, 18, and James Braxton 17, both of Ardmore, were recovered from Pennington Creek in Tishomingo Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, police reported.

The medical examiner's office had not determined the causes or manner of their deaths Wednesday afternoon.

Family members reported that Hicks and Braxton did not return home after going to the creek, and searchers found their car and cellphones inside it that was parked by a dam.
