Edmond police investigate double homicide of man and woman, son taken into custody
EDMOND — A 19-year-old man has been arrested in the double homicide of his parents early Monday, police Sgt. James Hamm said.
Police arrested Michael Elijah Walker in the shooting deaths of his father Michael Logan Walker, 50, and mother Rachel May Walker, 44.
Police were called to their home, 2601 N Bryant Ave., on a wooded acreage in northeast Edmond.
In 911 calls released by Edmond police Monday, a 17-year-old son, breathing heavily and struggling to talk, tells an Edmond police dispatcher that he heard gunfire in the house. He told the dispatcher his brother was in his bedroom. Police did not release the 17-year-old's name.
“He is my brother and he shot my parents,” the 17-year-old said in the 911 call. “My father is in his room on the floor and my mom is by the front door on the floor.”
The dispatcher asked, “Are they breathing?”
“I don’t think they are,” the boy said. He then left the house safely, and officers talked Michael Elijah Walker into surrendering. Officers found the parents dead of what police described as multiple gunshot wounds. A handgun was found in the home.
"We believe that that 19-year-old suspect, the son, had shot his parents and killed them," Hamm said. "There was a younger, teenage, juvenile son home at the time as well, who was just here at the home, and heard the gunshots and called 911."
