The driver of a gray sport utility vehicle who crashed into Lake Hefner Sunday has been found safe, police report.

The driver was not hurt, said police Lt. Dennis Layden.

Layden said the driver was going too fast for the curve and went into shallow water about 10 feet from the shore. Tracks in mud led from the gravel, shoreline road into the water near W Britton Road and W Lake Hefner Drive. The SUV was towed from the lake about 9:30 a.m.

On Thursday, police recovered a car near a shoreline road at Lake Overholser that had gone off a curve and sunk into deeper water. The bodies of two men who are presumed to have been in the car were recovered near the Lake Overholser dam.
