A 14-year-old boy with a gun was shot by a police officer Sunday in southeast Oklahoma City, police reported.

The boy suffered non life-threatening injuries, police Capt. Bo Mathews reported.

About 5:45 p.m. Sunday, officers went to 5716 Evanbrook Terrace, where a caller said several people were breaking into the residence. The caller said two of the burglars had guns. Officers heard possible gunshots, and Sgt. Kyle Holcomb saw the 14-year-old boy had a gun. The boy refused verbal commands to drop the gun and Holcomb fired. The boy was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

Holcomb has been placed on paid, administrative leave, Mathews reported. The name of the boy was not released because of his age, Mathews said.
