Edmond suspect charged in double slaying
A 19 year old who confessed to shooting his parents was charged Monday with two counts of first-degree murder.
Eli Walker was arrested early March 4 after police responded to his family's north Edmond home. Walker told police he shot his father and mother because "they were sending him messages telepathically and they were Satan worshipers," according to a court affidavit.
Officers found Michael Logan Walker, 50, and Rachael May Walker, 44, dead of multiple gunshot wounds.
Walker said an argument broke out when he asked his parents about Satanism, police said. He shot his father in his bedroom and his mother as she tried to escape outside the house through a door, according to the affidavit.
Walker's brother, Isaiah Walker, 17, called police after he woke up to the sound of gunshots and screaming. His mother told him to call 911 as he saw her run down a hallway.
Defense attorney Derek Chance said an initial psychological assessment showed Eli Walker is "acutely paranoid and delusional." He said he intends to ask an Oklahoma County judge to find the defendant mentally incompetent.
