OKC Phi Beta Kappa plans annual meeting March 28
The Oklahoma City Association of Phi Beta Kappa will host its annual meeting and banquet at 6 p.m. March 28 at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club, 7000 NW Grand Blvd. in Nichols Hills.
The featured speaker will be Berrien Moore, dean of the University of Oklahoma College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences. Moore is the current director of the National Weather Center and holds the Chesapeake Energy Corp. Chair in Climate Studies.
During the event, Oklahoma City attorney Marilyn Matteson Edens will be honored as Phi Beta Kappa of the Year, an annual award recognizing a member who has contributed significantly to the association and the community or the state.
The association also will announce the recipients of college scholarships awarded annually to outstanding high school seniors in the metropolitan area. Scholarships are funded by voluntary donations from the association’s members and represent the association’s goal of recognizing outstanding academic achievement.
