OCA announces 2019 Hall of Fame class
Longtime Davis football coach Jody Weber, former Carl Albert baseball coach Wayne Dozier and legendary Anadarko boys basketball coach Doug Schumpert are among the Oklahoma Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame inductees this summer.
The OCA announced the 2019 class Tuesday. The inductees will be honored Saturday, July 20, at the Southern Hills Marriott Hotel to open the annual All-State week.
Other inductees include Purcell’s Randy Belicek, Marlow’s Bill Carter, Victory Christian’s Jim Cherry, Pryor’s Mark Dicus, Blanchard’s Kevin Foster, Frederick’s Ed Jones and Jenks’ Martha O’Rourke.
Weber, who stepped down as coach before last fall, won two state championships and four state runner-ups at Davis in 17 years. He was a huge part of the Wolves’ 34 straight years making the playoffs behind the triple-option offense.
Dozier coached 17 years at Carl Albert, going 563-162 and winning five state championships. He also led the Titans to 15 regional tournament titles.
Schumpert has coached for 36 seasons, primarily at Anadarko and Carnegie. He’s won four state championships.
