Workshops

COMMONWEALTH URBAN FARMS

Classes are from 11 a.m. to noon at CommonWealth Urban Farms, 3310 N Olie. Tuition is $10 per person or $15 per couple, unless otherwise noted. Free admission for Saturday volunteers. Pay onsite at the beginning of the class.

Low Tunnels for Season Extension, Saturday. How to grow heartier vegetables longer with low tunnels made from hoops and row cover.

For Beginners Only, March 23. Learn the steps of choosing where to locate your garden, how to set up a container garden with Smart Pots, and what to plant first.

MYRIAD BOTANICAL GARDENS

The following workshops are located at Myriad Botanical Gardens 301 W Reno. Prices vary. Call 445-7080, or go to www.myriadgardens.org for information or to register.

Water Conservation and Turf Management Seminar, 10 a.m. to noon March 23, the garden classroom. Learn cost-effective methods for conserving natural resources, from setting up strategic rain barrels to the effective use of mulch. Coffee and light breakfast provided. Cost is $8 for members, $12 for nonmembers. Register by March 19.

Seed Starting Workshop, 10 a.m. to noon March 30, the garden classroom. Learn how to start annual flowers, vegetables and herbs, the best way to take care of your seeds as they germinate and grow. Speaker is Bill Farris, Prairie Wind Nursery. Cost is $14 for members, $19 for nonmembers. Register by March 19.

Wednesday @ Will Rogers Gardens lecture series is open to the public and is presented at no charge by the Oklahoma County Extension Master Gardeners and the Oklahoma County OSU Cooperative Extension Service. All classes are at Will Rogers Exhibition Center, 3400 NW 36.

Enchanting April: How to Get the Most from your Oklahoma Garden in Spring, 6 p.m. April 10. Speaker is author and garden blogger Dee Nash.
